About Greg
I am Greg Kovacs, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Utica, New York. My practice is built on a fundamental belief: that every person carries within them the capacity for growth, even when that capacity feels buried beneath pain, confusion, or disconnection.
I earned my graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and have spent over a decade working with individuals, couples, and families navigating everything from anxiety and depression to relationship breakdowns, life transitions, and the quiet weight of unprocessed experiences.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based methods. I do not believe in fixing people — I believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where real healing can begin, and where you rediscover your own strength.
Services
Whether you are navigating a difficult relationship, struggling on your own, or looking to strengthen the bonds in your family, I offer a range of therapeutic services designed to meet you exactly where you are.
Rebuild trust, improve communication, and rediscover the connection that brought you together. Whether you are on the brink of separation or simply feeling stuck, we will work together to create a path forward.
A dedicated space for you to explore what is weighing on you — anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or simply the sense that something needs to change. You do not have to navigate it alone.
Families are complex systems, and when one person struggles, the whole system feels it. I work with families to improve dynamics, heal relational wounds, and build a stronger foundation for everyone involved.
My Approach
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor. I draw from several well-researched modalities — including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and narrative therapy — and I tailor the approach to what you need, not what is easiest for me.
We begin with a free 15-minute phone call to see if we are a good fit and discuss how I can help.
In our first session, we will explore your story, understand your concerns, and collaboratively set meaningful goals.
Sessions are weekly or biweekly, and we will regularly check in on your progress and adjust the plan as you grow.
97%
of clients report feeling heard and understood in their very first session.
"I walked in feeling broken and walked out feeling like I had a map again. Greg doesn't just listen — he helps you see yourself with new eyes."
